CHAPTER EIGHT

I pulled into the Holliday Homes driveway then drove around to the back to the parking lot. I took a few minutes to gloss my lips and fluff out the coils in my hair to frame my face. I couldn’t wait to get all this hair braided up in a few weeks.

When I walked inside, I didn’t see the receptionist, Stacy, at her desk, so I continued to Cash’s office and knocked on the closed door.

“Come in,” Cash called out.

Once I entered the office, the smile that spread across his face was worth the drive into town. That and getting to see him in another black suit. It was just something about a Black man in black that hit differently. My body tingled as I watched him walk towards me.

With his striking good looks and the way he moved in the suit, Cashton was a sight to behold. I had no doubt my appreciation for the view was not only written all over my face but dampening my panties as well. I wanted to jump in his arms and fuck him right there on the spot.

“What’s up, Taheerie,” he said, his eyes twinkling in amusement.

“Hey Cash,” I said breathlessly after he kissed my cheek instead of my lips like I expected him to.

That’s when I realized why he said my name like that. He only ever called me T-Baby when no one else was around. Shit.

Looking around him, I saw his older brother Dash standing a few feet away with all of his attention on his phone. I hadn’t even noticed him because Cash’s fine ass had commanded all my attention.

“Hey Dashaun, I didn’t see you there. I hope I’m not interrupting anything, but I was in town and thought I’d check on my bestie here,” I rambled, giving him a hug.

Cash chuckled behind me. I wanted to crawl into a hole, but I kept my focus on Dash. His face was blank and his dark eyes that were so like Cash’s gave nothing away, so I couldn’t tell what he was thinking.

“Not at all, Eerie, in fact I was just about to head out. You can have your bestie all to yourself.”

He winked at me to confirm he’d witnessed me lusting after his brother. Warmth flooded my cheeks in embarrassment. Obviously, I needed to take a few more acting classes because this was pathetic.

I blamed it on being caught off guard. Dash was the first person to intrude on the intimate bubble Cash and I created for ourselves. I was unprepared and didn’t have a cover story put together. I opened my mouth to do damage control, but Cash cut me off before I got the chance to.

“I’ll get up with you later, bruh,” he said, walking his brother out of the room and closing the door behind him.

“He knows,” I announced.

“He does,” Cash confirmed nonchalantly.

I side-eyed him. I knew how close they were. Men gossiped just as much as women, if not more. They had all the tea with their talking asses.
